From a Local Living Room to Silicon Valley: Südkurier Visits nunc.

Vom Konstanzer Wohnzimmer bis ins Silicon Valley: Der Südkurier zu Besuch bei nunc.

Back in 2024, the local newspaper “Südkurier” visited the team behind Next Level Coffee to learn more about the company founded by Markus Unger, Dominik Maier, and Markus Kütemeyer in Konstanz. At that time, nunc. was still in its development phase: initial prototypes existed, and the first espressos could already be brewed – but the nunc. had not yet made its way into home kitchens.

By the time Michael Buchmüller visited in March 2026, the picture had changed completely: nunc. has been in serial production for about six months. In the Konstanz office, the so-called Shot Counter now registers over 50.000 espressos extracted on the machine.

With every shot, nunc.’s learning system continues to evolve. This ongoing development not only ensures continuous improvement after purchase but also exemplifies a new generation of household appliances, where software, hardware, and machine learning work together to deliver real value to users.

What began in Konstanz as the vision of three entrepreneurs – and, as Südkurier notes, continued during the pandemic on a boat in Lake Constance – has now gained international attention: in early 2026, co-founder Dominik Maier presented nunc. in Silicon Valley, the globally renowned tech hub in the U.S., and received enthusiastic feedback.

In 2026, Südkurier continues to tell this local success story – and we’re already looking forward to seeing where we’ll be when they visit our offices next.
