1. How do I connect my nunc. to Wi-Fi?

Easy: the app includes a step-by-step guide that takes you safely through the setup process.

If the Wi-Fi signal in your kitchen is not quite as enthusiastic as you are before your first espresso, a Wi-Fi repeater can help. With particularly high security standards, such as WPA3-encrypted networks or additional protective measures, setup may occasionally run into issues. In that case, it’s worth doing a quick test with another network or a WPA2-encrypted hotspot.

2. Do I need to use filtered water?

Yes, absolutely. Filtered water is to your nunc. what good beans are to espresso: an essential part of the taste.

It helps prevent deposits inside the machine while also creating a noticeably better coffee experience. Alternatively, you can use suitable mineral water, such as Volvic or Black Forest, or the BRITA filter included in the Discovery Bundle.

Our tip: test your water hardness with the test strip provided. That way, you can make sure your nunc. gets exactly the kind of water that’s good for it.

3. What should I do if my coffee isn’t extracting properly?

First of all: don’t worry. Your nunc. is smart. It learns with every espresso shot.

Especially with a new roast or a different basket, the algorithm may not be perfectly dialed in at the very beginning. With each additional shot, the recipe becomes more precise. If your coffee still isn’t running the way you’d like it to, we’re here for you.

4. Why does a small amount of milk sometimes not foam very well?

Milk has its own rules. And, as so often in life, a little more volume helps.

From a certain amount upwards, milk is simply easier to foam. If you still want to steam smaller quantities, you can place something flat underneath the milk jug. The lid of our coffee packaging works beautifully for this — or a small coaster.

This raises the jug slightly and gives the foam a better starting point.

5. Can I mix coffees or combine hoppers?

We understand the impulse. Mixing coffee sounds like creative freedom, like barista jazz, like “what if?”.

Still, our recommendation is: keep it single-origin, single-roast, single-recipe. Each roast has its own dedicated recipe, precisely tailored to the characteristics of the beans. When different coffees are mixed, even though they would ideally need different preparation parameters, the result can become unpredictable.

In this case, the success guarantee also no longer applies. So: better to stick with one bean.

6. Can I use my own beans?

Yes — with anybeans.

You can scan any coffee packaging, no matter which roastery it comes from or where the beans are from. The nunc. sensory intelligence automatically creates a suitable recipe, tailored specifically to those beans.

The first shot is a calibration shot. After that, each extraction is optimized further. So here, too, your nunc. keeps learning.

And if you prefer to take full control yourself: in Manual Mode, you can adjust all parameters to your taste and save your own recipe for later.

7. How do I remove the spouts? Is there a single spout option?

The spouts — the black outlet on your portafilter — can simply be unscrewed.

This turns your portafilter into a bottomless one and lets it function like a single spout. Minimal effort, maximum barista moment.

8. How do repairs for my nunc. work?

The nunc. is built for longevity and crafted with precision. If something still doesn’t work as it should, we’ll first start with a remote diagnosis, with your permission.

If the issue can’t be resolved that way, we’ll send you a replacement nunc. that you can use right away. You simply pack your current machine into the return box. At our nunc. lab on Lake Constance, we’ll take a close look at what’s going on.

You don’t need to worry about anything else.

9. Can I buy additional accessories for my nunc.?

Yes. In our webshop, you’ll find accessories in the unique nunc. design — from tampers and Smart Hoppers to cloths.

Since some items can sell out quickly, it’s worth checking back regularly. A small warning: you may suddenly develop very specific ideas about perfectly coordinated coffee accessories.

10. How do I dispense hot water?

The nunc. has its own dedicated water outlet. You can use it to dispense hot water — manually or automatically, depending on your presets.

Perfect for tea, for example, or for lengthening your espresso. Americano, anyone?

Bonus question: My espresso is too cold. What can I do?

One small step can make a big difference: rinse your cup with hot water before brewing. This preheats the cup, so your espresso doesn’t land in a cold vessel.
